Everything you need to know about Burkina Faso Visa

will need a visa in advance before you travel to Burkina Faso. British citizens
need to apply for a visa through the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Brussels.
The
Honorary Consul of Burkina Faso in the UK has ceased functioning and so the UK
does not have any representation of Burkina Faso. All visas are processed only
in Brussels, which can take up to 10 working days for processing.

Note:
If you are a resident of the UK but are a national of Benin, Cape Verde,
Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau,
Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo, you won’t need a
visa to enter Burkina Faso, provided you have a National Identity Card or
passport issued by any of the above nations.
All
other nationals will need to secure a visa in advance through the embassy.
Below are the major types of visas issued by the consular section of the
Burkinabe embassy.
- Tourist Visa
- Business Visa
Business visa: Documents required
In order to apply for a business visa, you will need all of the above documents as detailed under the tourist visa section.
Additionally, you will need a UK business letter, issued by your employer in the UK on a company letterhead and addressed to the embassy.
It should contain your complete name, the name of the organisation to be visited in Burkina Faso, visa type, financial status, and signature of the company director or HR department.
You will also need a letter of invitation from the inviting company in Burkina Faso. It must be on a company headed paper and addressed to the embassy while specifying the applicant’s name and purpose of the visit.
Both tourist and business visas are available in single entries, valid for three or six months, and multiple entries, again valid for three and six months.
The fees will differ as per the visa type and you will also need to pay additional courier charges in order to deliver your application package to the embassy in Brussels.
Additional points
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) strongly recommends that travelers should not visit any area of Burkina Faso that lies to the north of the town of Boulsa, to any locale that is situated within 40 km of the western border with Mali, all central and eastern regions such as the W and Arly National Parks and their inclusive reserves and hunting areas, Koulpélogo province in Centre-East region, as well as the capital Ouagadougou.
Since the country is prone to terrorist attacks, caution should be administered and travel should be restricted only to essential areas.
According to UK health authorities, Burkina Faso holds a risk of Zika virus transmission.
You should always carry comprehensive travel and medical insurance during your travels.
In the case of any emergency, you should contact the British embassy, consulate or high commission.
Since consular support is limited in the country with the Honorary Consul in Burkina Faso offering minimal help, you are advised to contact the British High Commission Accra in Ghana when required.
