Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)
is a life-long visa. It is a multiple entry visa that allows the holder to
travel to India as many times as they wish. It also entitles the holder to stay
in India for as long as they wish to without the need for exiting India in 180
days. As the name suggests, it is an ‘overseas citizenship’ which grants the
holder more or less all rights like a normal citizen of India. Being a multiple
purpose visa, OCI holders are allowed to buy or sell any investments including
commercial and residential properties. They can also undertake any business

OCI card holders may need to renew their OCI
cards or re-issue their OCI cards or transfer them to new passports. There are

Surrender of Indian Passport
India is a country that does not allow dual citizenship for
its citizens. Indian law suggests that a person who acquire a foreign citizenship
should immediately surrender his or her passport at the nearest Indian
consulate or embassy.
People of Indian origin who have obtained UK citizenship has
a 90-day grace period to travel with an Indian passport. Within this time
frame, the person should renunciate his or her Indian citizenship and should
surrender the Indian passport. Once you surrender the Indian passport, the new
UK citizen of Indian origin will be provided with a surrender certificate which
