Burundi
tourist visa
Foreign
nationals from visa exempt countries who plan to enter Burundi for
tourism-related activities including sightseeing can apply for a tourist visa.
Please note that these visas are exclusively for tourism-related activities,
and foreign nationals are not supposed to engage in any works in Burundi using
these visas.
Please
find below the necessary documents that are required to obtain a Burundi
tourist visa.
- In
order to get a Burundi tourist visa, it is very much necessary to submit your
original signed passport. The passport which is being submitted should have a
validity of six months, and it should have two blank pages. If a foreign
national’s passport has a validity of less than six months, it is very much
recommended to renew it before sending the application.
- Two
recently taken photographs of the applicant should be submitted. While
submitting the photographs, please ensure that it is taken in a white
background. In the photograph, the foreign national should make sure that he or
she is maintaining a neutral facial expression.
- It
is necessary to submit the copy of onward and return tickets.
- The
applicant should submit the proof of accommodation. As a proof of accommodation,
the foreign national can submit hotel room booking reservation details.
- All
foreign nationals should submit an International certificate for Yellow Fever
vaccination.
- The

Burundi
business visa
As the
name indicates, Burundi issues business visas to foreign nationals who wish to
visit the country for business related activities.
Please find below the
necessary documents that are needed to obtain a Burundi business visa.
- The passport of the foreign national should be
submitted. While submitting the passport, the foreign national should make
sure that it has a minimum validity of six months, and two blank pages.
- Two recently taken photographs of the applicant
should be submitted. Please note that these photographs are providing the
full-frontal view of the applicant’s head with the face centered in the
middle. In the photograph, the foreign national should also maintain a
neutral facial expression.
- As the traveler is residing in the United
Kingdom, it is very much necessary to provide the ILR card or the proof of
resident status. Please note that the ILR card is valid for at least six
months after the traveler return from Burundi.
- The travel proofs of the applicant should be
submitted. As the travel proof, the applicant can send his or her onward
and return tickets.
- It is necessary to submit the accommodation proof.
As the proof of accommodation, the applicant can submit the hotel room booking
reservation details. Please note that the hotel room booking reservation
details contain the name of the applicant, name of the hotel and the hotel’s
address.
- A business invitation letter from the host
company in Burundi should be submitted. Please note that this letter details
the nature and purpose of the trip. The letter should also describe the
intended destinations the foreign national will visit during the Burundi
trip.
Burundi transit
visa
British
nationals do not need a visa to transit through Burundi. However, UK citizens
should make sure that they are following the below mentioned rules while transiting
through this country.
- The traveler should hold a passport which is
valid, and it should have sufficient blank pages for possible markings.
- The UK national should make sure that he or she
is not leaving the International transit area of the airport during the
time of stay in Burundi.
- The British national should always hold proof
of sufficient funds.
- It is always necessary to keep the proof of onward
and return flight tickets.
- It is necessary to hold all sufficient
documents needed for the next destination.
