Everything you need to know about Mongolia
Visa
As per Mongolia’s visa policy, 23 countries
are visa exempt, i.e they don’t need a visa to travel to Mongolia. However, UK
is not part of it. Hence, if you are a United Kingdom citizen, you do need to apply
for a visa prior to your travel.
Visitors from the
UK who wish to visit Mongolia will be issued a particular category of visa,
depending on the purpose of travel - tourism, work/business, transit,
film/media, or family/friends visit.
Mongolian visa is available in three
categories -- single entry, double entry, and multiple entry.
Tourist visas are segmented into two entry
types: single and double. Business visas can be single or multiple entries.
Transit visa is available either as a single or double entry.
All
Mongolian visit visas usually arrive with validity for a stay of up to 30 days
within six months from the date of issue. You can extend your visa up to 30
days once within six months.
If
you are an official UK passport holder, your passport should be valid for a
minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Mongolia.
Whatever be your reason for travel, you need a
visa to enter Mongolia. You can apply for one among the following categories,
depending on your purpose, which are:
- Diplomatic visit “D”
- Official visit “A”
- Business visit “B”
- Family visit “H”
- Visiting International Organizations “OU”
- Investor “T”
- Visiting NG or Humanitarian organizations “O”
- Tourist “J”
- Employment “HG”
- Student “S”
- Migrant “TS”
Note: If your application falls under “A”,
“B”, “H” “OU”, “T”, “O”, “HG”, “S”, or “TS” categories, you need to have a visa
endorsement letter as a supporting document.
This will be arranged by your host in Mongolia
and has to carry the approval of either the Immigration Authority or the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
Again, this document needs to be submitted by
your host to the Embassy, before you arrive there with your application.
Online Application for a Visa on Arrival
Applicants for tourist (J) and business (B)
visas can apply online for a visa on arrival. This is for single or multiple
entry visas for tourism (J) and business visit (B) categories only.
The process needs to be started by the
inviting company or person. They require to login to the immigration website
and upload the invitation letter, application
form, and other documents as per the given instructions.
After all the documents are submitted, the
immigration authority will inform the inviting organization or individual
through an email or text message. When the permission is granted, you can enter
Mongolia via a VOA
You should remember that at the entry point,
the immigration authority might interview you and they can refuse your entry to
Mongolia. It is important for the inviting individual or company to provide
full and true information about the person.
We recommend that you take a visa in advance
prior to your travel to avoid any complication in Mongolia.

to exit Mongolia can be denied for reasons such as civil disputes, pending
criminal investigations or immigration violations.
What
are the eligibility requirements for ETD utilization?
