Everything You Need To Know About A Swaziland Visa
Swaziland,
currently known as Eswatini, follows a comparatively simple rulebook when it
comes to entry requirements.
The good news is that, if you are a British
passport holder, you do not need a visa to enter the nation.
UK
nationals are visa-exempt if they plan to travel to Swaziland for tourism or
business purposes. You can stay in the country without a visa for a period not
exceeding 30 days. You even have the option of extending your stay by
submitting an application at the Eswatini Immigration Department in Mbabane.
All Eswatini border posts are open all through the year on a daily basis.
However, their operating hours may vary.
Now,
if your travel plan includes visits that involve activities not related to
business or tourism, you shall have to apply for a visa through the consular
section of the Swazi Embassy in London. You need to apply for a visa before
your travel even when your planned stay period exceeds 30 days. For additional
queries, please contact the department. Below are the communication details:

Things to consider before you avail visa exemption for Swaziland
You
should own an original British passport that has a minimum validity period of 3
months from the date of entry into Eswatini. However, we recommend that you
carry a passport which always has a validity of 6 months. It should also
contain at least 2 blank visa pages.
Next,
check your detailed flight route to Swaziland. Ensure that your itinerary does
not have connecting flights that might need a separate transit visa. Finally,
check with your airlines whether they allow boarding without a visa.
If
your itinerary includes a visit to South Africa before or after traveling to
Eswatini, you will need to ensure that your passport has 2 extra unused pages
for the necessary entry/exit South African stamps.
UK Emergency Travel Documents
The
government of Eswatini does accept UK Emergency Travel Documents at the points
of entry, exit, and transit. Make sure that your Emergency Travel Document
holds a minimum validity of 6 months when you present it to the immigration
authorities during arrival or departure from Swaziland.
Yellow fever certificate requirements
Swaziland
does not hold any risk of yellow fever transmission. However, the country
follows the regular rules for a yellow fever certificate when you seek to enter
its borders. All travelers above 9 months of age, arriving from a nation with a
risk of yellow fever transmission or transiting via such countries must carry a
yellow fever certificate.
Custom and local rules
Swaziland
authorities adopt extremely strict measures when it comes to possession of
drugs and smuggling of narcotics. These activities are banned and are branded
illegal. There have been instances when foreign visitors were imprisoned on
drug-related offenses. Punishments are severe, fines are heavy, and such acts
can even result in deportation.
The
government of Estwatini considers same-sex relationships and acts as illegal.
Discrimination against the LGBT community is prevalent, with many of their
local people, not being open about their sexual orientation or gender identity.
So, it is advisable to not engage in such activities.
Note:
Estwatini does not have any British diplomatic representation. In the event
that you land in trouble and need consular support, you cannot seek assistance
from the British government in the nation.
You need to contact the British High
Commission in Pretoria or the Consulate-General in Cape Town, South Africa, in
the instance that you need guidance and help in a certain situation.
