For Which Travel Purposes Can I Apply for a Business Visa?

You can apply for a business visa when you are visiting Zambia for business-related activities, such as attending seminars or conferences. A business visa is also required for carrying out any work related to the church, government, diplomatic, volunteer, or and study-related trips. Note that the Zambian government also needs a business visa for journalistic missions. However, you need to get this visa before you enter the country from the Zambian embassy.

How Many Times Can I Enter Zambia on a Business Visa?

Zambian business visas are available in single entry, double entry, and multiple entry. On a single entry visa, you can enter and exit the country once during the validity period. For a double entry visa, you can enter-exit twice… and so on. But remember to plan all your trips so that they fall within the validity period covered by your business visa.

What Is the Validity of a Zambian Business Visa?

A Zambian business visa, for all entry types, comes with a maximum validity of 12 months (one year). However, the maximum allowable stay per visit from the date of entry (within one year) is 30 days.Note: The validity of the visa does not specify the period for which the holder is entitled to remain in the country. It defines the time frame within which the holder has to enter Zambia. If you wish to stay longer in the country legally, you need to approach the immigration department for the required means.

Can I Extend My Stay in Zambia?

Yes, you can. For this purpose, download the form XI and completely fill it, specifying the exact reasons for visa/permit extension. Once done, submit the application to the Zambian embassy/consulate. Once the immigration department verifies your reasons, they will allow or deny your extension, based on their discretion.

When Should I Apply for a Zambian Regular Business Visa?

We would recommend you to go for an e-visa if you want a single or double entry visa. However, if you need a multiple entry visa, you need to apply via the Zambian Consulate in London. This is because multiple entry visas are only issued at Headquarters (even via the e-visa or online facility). You cannot obtain it on arrival after submission of an approval letter at any port of entry.

What Are the Additional Documents That Are Required for a Business Visa?

The documents required for a business visa are esentially the same as that for a tourist visa. However, along with the application form, proof of travel, passport, and photographs, you need to add a cover letter and an invitation letter from Zambia.

Any Other Considerations?

Always remember to carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are a frequent traveller. You may be denied entry if you are travelling via a country with risk of yellow fever transmission and don’t have the certificate. Keep enough funds for travelling needs and to reduce stress, plan your accommodation in advance. You don’t want to be stranded if you are travelling to the country during peak or holiday seasons!
