1. Passport:
The passport must be signed and it should have a minimum of six months validity and two blank pages.

2. Photograph:
2 passport sized photographs with a light background, taken within the last six months. In the photograph, the applicant should make sure that he or she is maintaining a neutral facial expression.

3. Visa Application Form:
All applicants are required to fill the Ghana tourist visa application forms online on the embassy system. However a small mistake can lead to you visa being rejected. 4. Yellow Fever Vaccination:
A copy of your International Yellow Fever Vaccination certificate.

5. Travel proofs:
Proof of onward and return tickets should be submitted.

6. Proof of Sufficient Funds:
A copy of recent bank statement, specifying the availability of sufficient funds.

7. Accommodation proofs:
Evidence of accommodation bookings in Ghana such as hotel reservations, specifying the name of the applicant, name and address of the hotel, and the duration of stay.

8. Invitation letter:

The invitation letter should arrive from the family or friends of the applicant in Ghana. It should also contain copies of d passport and visa

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the maximum allowable stay of a tourist visa?

Both single and multiple-entry tourist visas allow you a maximum stay of up to 3 months from your entry date in Ghana. However, this decision completely depends on your immigration official. He/she will stamp your passport and specify the stay period as applicable, granting you up to 90 days if your purpose demands it.

2. Can I extend the stay period on my tourist visa?

Yes, you can. In order to extend the stay period on your visa, you must submit an application to the Director of the Ghana Immigration Service. If the Ghana Immigration Service considers your application and is satisfied that you hold sufficient finances to support your stay, they will grant you the required extension.

3. Is there a validity for the visa application form?

Yes, there is. As we had already mentioned, in order to apply for a Ghana visa, you must fill the Ghana visa application form online. This application is valid for a period of up to 6 months from the date of online submission. You must present it in the Ghana High Commission Office within this time frame. If you fail to do so, the application will be automatically removed from the system and you shall have to lodge a fresh application.

4. What does the processing time include?

You need to fix an appointment with the Ghana High Commission before you visit the office to submit your visa application. It usually takes around 3-10 business days to get an appointment. The processing time involves the number to days taken to process the visa AFTER you attend the appointment or we attend it on your behalf.

5. Can I apply for a multiple entry tourist visa?

Yes, as a British citizen, you can apply for a multiple-entry tourist visa. But you need to hold at least one or two prior Ghana visas in order to be eligible to apply for a visa with multiple entries.

6. What is the eligibility criteria to obtain a gratis tourist visa?

Normal citizens of the UK are not eligible for a free or gratis tourist visa. You need to make the required fee payment in order to obtain a tourist visa. However, citizens of Malawi and holders of diplomatic or service passports are eligible to apply for a gratis visa.

7. Is it mandatory to procure a yellow fever vaccination certificate while applying for a Ghana tourist visa?

Yes. When you apply for any category of Ghana visas, you must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate. This is because there is a risk of yellow fever transmission in all areas of this country. Therefore, any traveller above the age of 9 months must possess a yellow fever vaccination certificate. A yellow fever certificate comes with a lifetime validity and hence, it cannot be rejected even though more than ten years have passed since your date of vaccination. Even boosters and revaccination are not required.

9. How much is a tourist visa to Ghana?

The embassy fees for one entry visa is £60 for 10 days of service. The fees increase to £100 for a 3 days service. Similarly, different fees are charged as per the number of entries you seek and the speed of the service.
