Everything You Need To Know About A Togo Visa
British
passport holders require a visa to enter Togo. We strongly recommend you to get
a visa through the Embassy of Togo in London, prior to your travel, although
there is a visa on arrival facility available at the airport. Below are the
visa types offered by the Togoan immigration department.
Visa types
- Visa on Arrival
- Regular Tourist Visa
- Regular Business Visa
- Regular Transit Visa
- Immigrant Visa
- Professional Visa
Visa on Arrival
You
may be able to obtain a visa on arrival through the immigration services at
border points and international airports, if you seek entry for business,
tourism, or transit purposes.
This visa allows you a maximum stay of up to one
week and you can obtain it after making a payment of CFA 10,000 (local
currency). If you wish to extend the validity, you can apply for an extension
at the office of Foreigners and Passport Service in Togo.
However,
we would advise you to get your visa prior to entering Togo. Why? Because entry
requirements and restrictions vary widely for a VOA. Sometimes, you may also be
refused entry by local immigration officials for no particular reason. Even its
extension beyond 7 days takes a lot of time.
Additionally,
you need to stand in long queues to get your entry stamps and this can cause
unnecessary delays in your travel plans. What’s more? Your airline should also
allow boarding without a visa.
The
documentation required to obtain a VOA is similar to the ones required for
regular visas, as per the category. Read on to understand all the requirements
in detail.
Regular Tourist Visa
A
regular tourist visa is the safest bet when you travel to Togo for activities
related to tourism, vacation, or family visits. These visas arrive in several
entry types and validities to suit your purpose.
You can get a tourist visa in
single as well as multiple entries, with validities of 1 month and 3 months for
each category. The maximum allowable stay per visit is up to 90 days.
The
documentation required for a tourist visa includes a completely filled
application form, a valid passport, passport-size photographs, return tickets,
yellow fever vaccination certificate, and travel insurance.
Additionally,
for a tourist visa, you will need to present proof of accommodation.
Yes,
that’s all! Once your documentation is ready, you are all set to proceed with
your visa application.
Regular Business Visa
A
regular business visa, which you can obtain through the embassy, allows you to
enter Togo for non-remuneration-generating business activities, which can
include attending a conference, seminar, or meeting.
It
is available in both single and multiple entry types, holding validities of 30
and 90 days. The maximum allowable stay is up to 3 months.
The
documentation requirements are the same as that of a tourist visa. The only
addition comes in the form of an invitation letter from your business partner
in Togo. For complete details on the list of required documents, please visit
our Togo Business Visa section.
Regular Transit Visa
A
transit visa is available in either single or double entry. It allows you to
air-transit via Togoan airports to your home country or to another destination.
However, you do not need a transit visa if your intended stay period is up to
24 hours and you stay within the airport while waiting for your next flight.
For
a transit visa, you shall need to present the required visa for your next
destination before you proceed with your application.
Apart from this, you will
need a valid passport, two passport-size photographs, a filled visa application
form, a yellow fever vaccination certificate, and onward tickets.

form. Please remember to sign it once it is complete

in person, pay in cash, and collect the visa.
Emergency Travel Documents
In
case you enter Togo under any of the above visa categories and happen to lose
your passport or your passport gets stolen/damaged/surpasses its validity, you
can apply for an emergency travel document. You can use an ETD to enter, exit,
or transit visa Togolese airports.
